Lakers Reportedly Made Decision On Jared Dudley Future With The Team

The Los Angeles Lakers have to make a decision on some players on their roster and Jared Dudley is one of them. There are several reports about the veteran forward, and fans may not like the latest development of events.

Chris Haynes from Yahoo! Sports reported that Dudley’s future with the Lakers is hanging in the air. His time with the team is probably over.

Los Angeles has 12 players under contract. They will enter to enter the 2021-22 NBA season with 14 players on the roster in order to stay flexible. Haynes explained the current situation in the team and made a prediction on the next few moves. Some players will have to go, giving Rob Pelinka enough room to get the names his team needs.

The Lakers may not keep Jared Dudley on the roster

According to this theory, Dudley is the odd man out. Will the Lakers let him go at this point?

“And with the intention of signing two more players and leaving a roster spot open, it means Jared Dudley’s two-year tenure with the organization will likely come to an end,” Haynes wrote.

The 36-year-old spent the past two seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers. Dudley helped the team win a championship in the 2019-22 NBA season. He and his Lakers teammates beat the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals.

In his two seasons with the franchise, Dudley saw action in 57 games with one start. The veteran forward was averaging 1.3 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 0.6 assists per game. In his career, Dudley averages 7.2 points per contest while shooting 46.3 percent from the field and 39.3 percent from beyond the arc.

Dudley suffered a knee injury last season and he recovered from it. It will be hard for the veteran to adjust to a different roster at this point of the year.

The Lakers look really good at this point of the regular season and they won’t necessarily keep Dudley on the floor. Maybe it’s time to try something else. Let’s see what happens next in the big city.
