Report: Mac Jones Has Impressed Patriots Behind The Scenes

Does Mac Jones knows he has impressed Patriots coaches? The rookie quarterback was selected in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Head coach Bill Belichick had a good feeling for the quarterback prospect. Jones was one of the top 5 prospects in the draft. Belichick knew what he was doing.

Jones had the chance to see some action in Game 1 of the preseason. The New England Patriots defeated the Washington Football Team. The rookie had an incredible performance. He did a wonderful job on the field.

The quarterback competition has attracted the attention of NFL analysts.

Mac Jones impressed Patriots coaches

Belichick doesn’t say much about Jones. Jeff Darlington from ESPN said Patriots are optimists about Jones’ future with the organization.

“I just got a text from somebody within the Patriots organization who pointed out that Mac Jones is handling things ‘very well, very smart, very hard worker, steady progress,’” Darlington said Wednesday on “Get Up!” as transcribed by Boston.com. “These are all the things behind the scenes that you want to feel about Mac Jones.”

Jones was able to complete 13 of 19 passes for 87 yards in his first preseason game. He will play against Thursday and this time the Patriots will challenge the Philadelphia Eagles.

“Yes it matters what we personally see in preseason and practice games, but what’s happening behind the scenes in that building, the fact that he’s making that type of progress, to me, tells you that ? this is a competition.”

Are there any obstacles at the moment? It’s the schedule. Jones has three games to show his true colors.
