Patriots Invite Three DBs, Wideout, Tackle For Free Agent Workouts

The New England Patriots had their workouts on the practice field and everything seems to fall in place. Head coach Bill Belichick was super busy in the offseason, selecting a good group of players. He also brought great free agents to New England. Wait, there’s more…

The Patriots hosted several free agents Monday. Belichick is trying to build his perfect roster. If you checkout the NFL transaction wire you will notice that the Patriots had defensive backs Augie Contressa, K.J. Sails and Sean Williams, wide receiver Lee Morris and offensive tackle Lukayus McNeil.

Patriots check out new names during workouts

Contressa is an undrafted free agent out FCS Stony Brook. He signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but the team cut him last Friday.

Sails has yet to ink a deal in the NFL. He is another UDFA piece who began his college career at North Carolina before going to South Florida in 2019.

Morris overlaps with 2021 draft selections Ronnie Perkins and Rhamondre Stevenson at Oklahoma. He got a scholarship as a walk-on and received praise for his special teams talent. Morris graduated from OU in 2019 and out of the field last season.

Williams is a safety from the Naval Academy. He has been away from football longer than Morris. The last snaps he saw happened in the 2018 Army-Navy Game. The safety was a three-year starter and senior captain for the Midshipmen. He was able to stack 85 tackles, two interceptions and five pass breakups in the final year.

McNeil is 25. He spent some time with the Atlanta Falcons and Dallas Cowboys but has yet to play a NFL game.

The Patriots had one week of workouts and they are getting ready for the second week.

Belichick and his players will host the Washington Football Team in the preseason opener on Thursday, Aug. 12.

The Miami Dolphins will be the first team to challenge the Patriots in 2021. They will come to Gillette Stadium in September. Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will come to New England in Week 4. A lot of great things will happen during that game. Fans can’t wait for the regular season to begin.
