Patriots Reportedly Sign Veteran LB After Losing Player To Torn ACL

The New England Patriots decided to add another player to replace the one they lost to a torn ACL. The team could really use some help at the linebacker unit. Saturday was a bad day for one of their veterans.

Patriots linebacker Raekwon McMillan suffered a torn ACL this week on the practice field. According to initial reports, McMillan will miss the entire regular season. He won’t see any action in the upcoming 2021 NFL season. NFL insider Ian Rapoport confirmed the big news. This is a rather bad development for a young player. The Patriots could really use him on the field. McMillan had a chance to show off. Unfortunately, he is dealing with a major issue at the moment.

This is a terrible timing. Head coach Bill Belichick will need to work quickly to fix his linebacker group. Coach Belichick made a move on Saturday and brought back someone he knows. The Patriots had a familiar face on the field and we are definitely fine with the addition of Cassh Maluia.

Patriots need new player following the departure of McMillan due to his torn ACL

NFL insider Tom Pelissero reported that the Patriots will consider bringing back Maluia. They selected him in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. However, Belichick cut him earlier this year. Now he is coming back. The player has been in and out the whole time.

Maluia, similar to McMillan, will add enough depth to the Patriots linebacker unit.

McMillan sustained many injuries in his pro career. He tore his ACL in training camp in his rookie season with the Miami Dolphins. He tore the ACL in his other knee earlier this week. NFL fans wish him a speedy recovery.

The Patriots have to move on from the injured linebacker.

The 2021 regular season is already here and Belichick has a lot of battles to win.

First, the head coach has to make a decision on his quarterback unit. There are several great options for the team. Cam Newton is set to start games with the team but McJones has a really good chance to snatch the position.

We will have a chance to see more from Jones on Thursday as the Patriots are taking on the Washington Football Team in the first preseason game.
