Patriots TE Hunter Henry Timetable to Return From Shoulder Injury, Updated

The New England Patriots can’t wait for Hunter Henry to return from his injury. The veteran tight end suffered another injury and the team has provided an update on his physical condition. Henry has been added to injury reports throughout his entire career. This time he has issues with the upper body. According to several sources, Henry will stay out of the field for some time. Adam Schefter from ESPN confirmed the information.

“Patriots’ TE Hunter Henry now is expected to miss ‘a couple of weeks’ with the shoulder injury he suffered last weekend that is ‘not serious’, per source.”

Head coach Bill Belichick brought Henry and Jonnu Smith right after the NFL announced the start of the free agency. Henry is in his first year with the organization. The veteran got used to the game in his four years with the San Diego Chargers/Los Angeles Chargers. NFL analysts took notice of his great potential, and they have high expectations from him.

Hunter Henry to return from his injury

The Patriots tight end unit struggled in 2020. Tight ends performed worse than other players at this position in the NFL. Rob Gronkowski’s departure left a big void on the roster. Belichick tried to replace big Gronk but it didn’t work. When it comes to the former Patriots tight end, he retired and then unretired just to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Yes, he wanted to play with Tom Brady.

Belichick brought in Henry to add depth to the tight end unit. The veteran is a true leader on the field, but he has to be healthy to be 100% in the upcoming season. Belichick got Henry but he is well aware of the fact that getting Henry was a risky move. In 2018, Henry tore his ACL on his right knee during organized team activities. It was a season-ending injury and Henry missed the entire year.

The Patriots offered Henry a three-year deal worth $37.5 million in March. They also brought Smith through a four-year deal worth $50 million.

In his NFL career, Henry has 2,322 receiving yards and 21 touchdowns on 196 receptions and 284 targets.

Will Henry join his teammates on time to help them win more games? If he stays out longer than expected, Belichick will have to find a replacement. Will this even happen?
