Report: Former Lakers Big Man Wants a Championship Reunion With The Franchise

The Los Angeles Lakers brought Russell Westbrook to the roster and Rob Pelinka is building a strong team. The Phoenix Suns eliminated the Lakers in the first round of the playoffs. It was a bad season for the Lakers and players are ready to do much better next season. The front office won’t stop here. According to recent reports, the Lakers will probably go after some role players. Now we know that a former Lakers big man is looking forward to a reunion with the team.

Dwight Howard was part of the champions last season. His first stint with the Lakers was bad. However, he became a quality backup center in the 2019-20 NBA season. Guess what… Howard wanted to return to LA this past season. Well he had to sign with the Philadelphia 76ers in free agency.

Now is the perfect time to say that Howard would love to join the Lakers again. Brad Turner of the Los Angeles Times discussed this possibility and emphasized Howard’s willingness to be a Laker again.

The Lakers made several big changes. They traded for Russell Westbrook and sent Kyle Kuzma to the Washington Wizards. The franchise had to give up on Montrezl Harrell, Kentavius Caldwell-Pope and the No.22 pick.

The former Lakers big man hopes for a reunion with the franchise

Andre Drummond is entering free agency and he can go wherever he wants. Marc Gasol is 36 and he is way past his prime. Will LA try to keep him?

It seems like the front office will have to make some big changes and bring fresh names to LA. Howard is 35, but he had better performance than Gasol in 2020-21. He was Joel Embiid’s backup and the team liked his performance.

NBA analysts agree that Howard can’t start games now but he would be a good backup piece for LA once Anthony Davis goes at center.

The big man was averaging 7.0 points and 8.4 rebounds in 17.3 minutes per game this past season. Will LA use these numbers to win games in the upcoming season?
