Ron Rivera Shares The ‘Best Thing’ About Bill Belichick

The Washington Football team will arrive at Gillette Stadium on Thursday for the preseason opener. Ron Rivera and Bill Belichick will challenge each other and it will be a fun game to watch. These two may play against one another, but it doesn’t change the fact that they have mutual respect for each other.

Belichick is coming off a disappointing season. His team finished the 2020 NFL season with a 7-9 record. The Patriots missed the chance to make the playoffs for the first time since the 2008 NFL season. Belichick is rebuilding his roster and he will do his best to avoid similar catastrophe.

Rivera is more than confident that the Patriots head coach will pull off incredible game. He has seen Belichick do this before. The Patriots get the best of their game on the field. They have had success in the past two decades.

Ron Rivera respects Bill Belichick

In his media session at training camp on Tuesday, Rivera sung praise for the Patriots head coach. He respects Belichick regardless of the final result of his seasons. The Patriots failed to win in 2020, and Rivera can’t wait to see more from Belichick’s new-look team.

“The best thing about coach is there are no apologies for who he is,” Rivera said about Belichick, per Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post. “He’s true to form. …I enjoy watching him. … They were a dynasty basically, and now they’re rebuilding and it’s going to be fun to watch.”

Rivera and Belichick have been coaching in the NFL for the last 20 years. They have met on multiple occasions. Belichick was able to win some of the games. His rival, Rivera, left the Carolina Panthers in 2019. Well, they fired him. The NFL coach talked about his efforts to copy Belichick’s coaching style. Did it work?

Belichick is unique. Simple as that. There’s no one like him.

“I’ve tried to pay attention to what Bill Belichick has done, and how to slowly transition guys out and transition guys into being the new core guys,” Rivera told NBC Sports’ Peter King in 2019. “That’s what he’s done tremendously well.”

Belichick sent his best wishes to Rivera after he received the terrible diagnosis. His thoughtful message showed the world that their friendship is really strong.

The Patriots are ready for the big challenge and Belichick is winning games this time.
