Skip Bayless Gives Bold Prediction For Patriots Quarterback Battle

The New England Patriots have an unfolding quarterback battle on the field, and head coach Bill Belichick will have to make a big decision. There are several potential scenarios at the moment. Who is the best leader for the team?

Skip Bayless has a theory. He doesn’t expect the Patriots head coach to waste his time with the quarterback competition.

The Patriots selected Mac Jones in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He is the 15th overall pick and the rookie had an incredible performance in Game 1 of the preseason.

Jones to win the Patriots quarterback battle?

Belichick keeps trying to convince everyone that Cam Newton will start games in 2021. Well, we have a few good reasons to believe that the rookie will leapfrog Newton on the depth chart sooner than later.

Will Jones start Week 1? The Patriots will go against the Miami Dolphins.

“In the end, I believe Bill Belichick will go with your guy, Mac Jones, because Cam has never quite been his flavor, however you want to say it. It’s not his cup of Gatorade,” Bayless said Thursday on FS1’s “Undisputed” while discussing New England’s QB battle with Shannon Sharpe. “It’s Cam Newton, who Bill had to reach for in a little bit of desperation because he got caught, he didn’t have an answer to Tom Brady the first year. This time, obviously in the draft, Mac fell in his lap. It wasn’t at the top of the draft. But as he slowly fell down, at (No.) 15 he was right there, and all of a sudden, he’s got his quote-unquote Tom Brady. It wasn’t a sixth-rounder, but it was a guy who was a little off the top-of-the-draft radar.”

Jones’ preseason debut was awesome. Maybe offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels will hand him the keys to the Patriots offense. Jones will have another chance to make a strong impression Thursday night. New England will meet the Philadelphia Eagles for the second preseason game.

According to Bayless, this fame will be huge for Newton and Jones.

Newton shared a post about loyalty, and a lot of fans were confused. Was he sending a message to head coach Belichick?
