Bill Belichick Delivers Clear Message Amid 1-2 Start

The New England Patriots entered the regular season with a loss to the Miami Dolphins. Things got little better in Week 2 and the Patriots beat their opponents. Well, they ran out of luck today and lost the game to the New Orleans Saints. Head coach Bill Belichick talked about the 1-2 start of the regular season in the postgame press conference. Let’s just say he wasn’t too happy.

“We’ve just got to play more consistently,” Belichick said. “We’ve got to play with more good plays out there and not as many that aren’t good. That’s what we have to do. We had some chances, but in the end, we just couldn’t get it done. It’s disappointing. There’s no magic sauce here. Just have to go back to work and do better.”

Bill Belichick wants everyone to get better following the 1-2 start

Belichick is really bothered with this inconsistency. His team had the chance to make some good plays but it didn’t happen. He encourages his players to do better and this time they really need to elevate their game.

Some of the players made big mistakes. Josh McDaniels’ offense got off to a slow start and New Orleans took advantage of this. The offense started the game with three-straight three-and-outs and did just 13 nets yards of offense in the first quarter of the game.

Players tried to repair the damage in the fourth quarter but Taysom Hill’s rushing touchdown shut down their hopes.

Rookie quarterback Mac Jones completed 30 throws for 270 yards, a touchdown, and three interceptions. Patriots tight ends and offensive line failed him in Week 3. Jonnu Smith and Hunter Henry had six receptions for 40 yards. Combined. These two definitely didn’t meet expectations in this game.

Things don’t look too well for the Patriots at the moment. James White had to leave the game in the second quarter and didn’t return to the field. The Patriots ruled him out for the rest of the game.

This was a rehearsal for Week 4. Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are coming to town.
