Carmelo Anthony Has Very Blunt Admission On The Lakers

Carmelo Anthony is one of the many veterans to join the Los Angeles Lakers in the offseason. General Manager Rob Pelinka had to build out a rotation with veteran minimum signings. It was a big challenge, but Pelinka pulled out an exceptional move. First, he traded Kyle Kuzma, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Montrezl Harrell, and draft picks to get Russell Westbrook from the Washington Wizards. Getting Russ was a bold move, but it’s worth it. The Lakers have finally found a third player to join LeBron James and Anthony Davis, and build the Big 3.

Trading Kuzma and the other two created two new roster spots. However, the Lakers didn’t have much money and assets to get pricey players. A lot of veterans showed interest in joining the Lakers at the veteran minimum. That’s how Pelinka ended up building the oldest roster in the league. Melo doesn’t mind any of this. Moreover, he believes the Lakers have more talent than any other team in the NBA.

We old as hell. … [but] we have the most knowledge on this one team than the whole NBA has,” Anthony told Stephen A. Smith on ESPN’s First Take. “So if we can’t put that together and make something work, that’s on us.”

Carmelo Anthony, Lakers veterans have to prove a lot

The Lakers are pretty deep at the moment, but a lot of people criticized the front office for getting all those veterans.

Pretty much every player on the Lakers roster has something to prove. Oh wait. LeBron doesn’t have to prove anything. He is the GOAT. Russ came to win a title and he doesn’t have to prove anything to anyone. Everyone is looking forward to see a spectacular performance from the veteran.

Kendrick Nunn, Malik Monk, and Davis have a lot to prove in the upcoming season. The last player came like a surprise to you, right? Well, AD has to take care of his legacy. Davis had a really great performance inside the NBA bubble in Orlando. He helped the Lakers win that championship. Last season wasn’t that good and AD missed a lot of time on the field. An injury-prone veteran? Will the Lakers get rid of him if he underperforms in 2021-22? Several experts believe that Pelinka should have traded the big man in the offseason.
