Insider Gives Concerning Update For Cam Newton

The New England Patriots parted ways with their two veteran quarterbacks. There’s an update on Cam Newton and his fanbase may be a bit worried at this point. Ian Rapoport from NFL Network can’t even say a thing about Newton. Newton has been linked to the Dallas Cowboys.

“Dallas was a spot that I think some prognosticators thought ‘Well, maybe they don’t have an established No. 2.’ OK, that would make some sense,” he said. “If it’s not going to happen there, I’m looking around the league. Unless I’m missing something, I really don’t see a landing spot.”

Concerning update on Cam Newton

Newton was the most logical quarterback option for the New England Patriots. Head coach Bill Belichick wanted to give him the top role in 2021 and he even said that Newton is the Patriots’ quarterback in the upcoming season. Well, things changed and the team cut him in the most recent roster trimmings. NFL analysts could swear that Newton won’t leave the franchise at this point. He was a valuable player and there were great predictions for his future in New England.

Mac Jones changed it all.

The Patriots selected the rookie 15th overall and he was excellent in training camp. Belichick let him take the lead in all three preseason games. He was great. So, there was no room for Newton. His absence last week was just too much.

Newton is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL and he got the NFL honors in 2015. He is more popular than any other signal-caller. This may “kill” his chances to get a job. NFL teams have their quarterbacks and Newton can only get a backup position. How can a former MVP be someone’s backup? Imagine seeing him as Jones’ backup. Absolutely unacceptable.

“Sometimes you don’t want a backup quarterback to overpower or over-star the starter. That may happen with Cam Newton,” Rapaport said. “This is a guy who a lot of the players in the locker room grew up worshipping.”

Where will Newton go this time?

“I am not sure where Cam Newton gets a job, and I am not sure if Cam Newton gets a job.”
