Julian Edelman Addresses ‘Silver Lining’ For Patriots After Loss to Dolphins

Julian Edelman may be out of the New England Patriots, but he definitely follows every move they make. The team is coming off of a loss but Edelman noticed something incredible during the game. The former Patriots wideout took notice of the incredible performance Mac Jones had in the season opener. This was his debut with the team and he did a really good job. Edelman talked about this in the latest episode of “Inside the NFL.”

“74.4 completion percentage, best all-time for a rookie starter in their debut,” Edelman said. “I like to think of: Bill Belichick went out and he spent a whole lot of money. … Well, their receivers, they had 14 catches for 162 yards and a touchdown from their free agent signings. That’s a big thing, when you’re a team and you get to see your upper division go out and sign players to make you guys rebuild and get better. When you see the actual proof in the pudding and the production, that’s what you really want.”

Julian Edelman noticed changes in the Patriots game

Of course, Edelman couldn’t ignore some of the mistakes his former team made. These mistakes led to a loss. There were some great details, too. The Patriots tried really hard to win this game but it didn’t work. Head coach Bill Belichick would definitely agree on this one. He would love to see more from each and every player on the roster.

” … They’ve had some very uncharacteristic-type plays,” Edelman said. “They had eight penalties for (84 yards). They turned the ball over twice in the game. Which, there’s a premium for keeping the ball in your hand in the game.

“I remember Bill Belichick used to say, ‘When you are carrying the football, you’re not only carrying the football for the team, everyone in the building, but you’re carrying it for everyone in the region. Their fate is in your hands.”

Absolutely! The Patriots had a good game and fought really hard. As Belichick said, “it wasn’t enough.” The team will go against the New York Jets on Sunday. It’s another important game for Belichick’s guys.
