Julian Edelman Receives Major Praise From Bill Belichick Ahead of His Big Day Sunday

Julian Edelman is getting ready for Sunday. The former New England Patriots wideout will be honored with a very special day. The Patriots will have a “Julian Edelman Day” at Gillette Stadium and everyone is so excited about it, including the wideout himself.

“It’s definitely going to hit my soul,” Edelman said. “I really haven’t seen anyone, so it’s going to be interesting. I don’t know what to really expect. I’m an emotional guy. We’ll see if I can hold it up.”

If you ask head coach Bill Belichick, he will say that Edelman is one of the most hardworking players he has ever coached. We all know that Edelman is one of the best wide receivers in league history. He helps the team win a lot of games and earned the Super Bowl MVP award in 2018. Of course, he had a bad year and sustained serious injuries but this didn’t stop him from hitting that 1,000-yard mark quite often.

Bill Belichick is looking forward to seeing Julian Edelman on Sunday

Belichick watched Edelman win and he is really proud of his success.

“He had a tremendous career,” Belichick said, according to NESN. “Had tremendous production in every area — receiving, run after catch, punt returns, was a good blocker, was a really tough, competitive kid.”

Edelman will sure hear these words. I mean, Belichick called him one of the best players he has ever coached and yes, this is the ultimate compliment. Belichick is a man of a few words and he doesn’t really say much. He is someone who asks for more every time players hit the field. But, Edelman meet his criteria.

“He was right up there at the top of the guys that I’ve coached.” Belichick said. “It’ll be good to see him again and recognize him for the great career he had here and how much he meant to this team, this organization, and how much he stepped up in big games year after year, week after week.”

Of course, seeing Edelman back at Gillette Stadium is a big deal.

“It will be great to see Julian,” Belichick said, “assuming he doesn’t roast me or get into a big impersonation.”

He referred to the impersonation Edelman did recently and let’s just say a lot of people had a good laugh.

“I love the guy,” Edelman said. “Yeah, he may have been hard to play for. And, you know, we all know Coach Bill. But he ultimately was the guy that gave me an opportunity to go out and fulfill a dream of mine.”
