Report: LeBron James, Lakers Had ‘Strong Interest’ in Stephen Curry Former Teammate

The Los Angeles Lakers made a lot of moves in the offseason. They lost a few veterans but also brought strong players to work with LeBron James and Anthony Davis. So, the new team looks lot better than the 2020-21 squad. Rob Pelinka won’t stop here and he will probably add another veteran to his roster. According to recent sources, the Lakers showed interest in someone who played with Stephen Curry, and yes his teammate would look really well in LA.

Marc Stein reported that the Lakers really liked Damian Jones. LeBron wanted to play with the 6-foot-11 player.

“League sources say that the Lakers had strong interest earlier in the summer in trying to reacquire Damian Jones, but Sacramento elected to retain Jones and make his contract guaranteed for the coming season even though the [Sacramento] Kings already have Richaun Holmes, Tristan Thompson, Alex Len and (yes, still) Marvin Bagley III.”

The Lakers had interest in the player Stephen Curry called teammate for a reason

In the 2020-21 NBA season, the Lakers offered Jones a 10-day contract. The team didn’t want to give him anything better and Jones joined the Sacramento Kings. LA missed the chance to keep him around. He would have been an excellent fit for the current team.

Pelinka goes after pretty much every player with great playoff experience. He signed players like Carmelo Anthony, Russell Westbrook, Trevor Ariza, Malik Monk, and a few others. He also re-signed Rajon Rondo and Dwight Howatd. LA may have the oldest roster in the NBA but this team is much better than anything you will see in the league next season.

Metta World Peace said the new-look Lakers team is like a Lauren Hill album. You don’t get to see anything like this. He is super excited about the new beginning and he would love to see the Lakers in action next season.

LeBron is recharging his batteries in Italy. He has plenty of free time this offseason. The four-time NBA champion will enter the new season with a lot of new guys by his side.
