Report: Patriots Add Offensive Lineman To Practice Squad

The New England Patriots aren’t done making changes and this time they have added an offensive lineman to the practice unit. This is one of the many changes head coach Bill Belichick is set to make throughout the entire season. The 2021 season is really important for the team. Every player and coach is trying to make a good impression and the team has so much to prove right now.

OL Jake Eldrenkamp joined the Patriots practice unit. Let’s not forget that he spent some of the 2019 offseason in New England.

The 27-year-old joined the NFL as a rookie free agent. The Los Angeles Rams signed him on May 1, 2017 out of Washington. He measures at 6’5, 305 pounds. The Rams had him on the practice unit in 2017. Eldrenkamp made several stops in the NFL and also joined the practice unit in Cleveland (2018) and Indianapolis (2019-20).

The Patriots got him on Jan. 8, 2019, but he had to go on May 21, 2019.

The Patriots offensive lineman made stops in the NFL

In 2020, Eldrenkamp spent most of the season on the Indianapolis Colts practice unit. The offensive lineman saw action in two games as a reserve. The team had to elevate him from the practice unit. Indianapolis cut the OL on Aug. 31, 2021.

Eldrenkamp came to New England for a free agent workout and coaches probably like his skill set.

The offensive lineman is not the only player to join the Patriots. New England also signed rookie center Drake Jackson to the practice unit Tuesday. Who is the next player to join the team?

The Patriots had six players for a workout this week, including a quarterback. Working out a quarterback came like a surprise now because the Patriots have Mac Jones and Brian Hoyer on the roster at the moment. There are a few other options for the team and they need every bit of talent to make the playoffs this season. They do need to get new players because there are several top names on the injury report. Injuries can change the gameplan overnight.
