Shaquille O’Neal Challenges Lakers Doubters: ‘Show Me a Young Team That Dominate’

Shaquille O’Neal follows every move the Los Angeles Lakers make, and let’s just say he knows a few things about the game. LA is coming off a bad season and the front office made some really big changes to the roster. Big Shaq is not really bothered with the new-look Lakers team. General Manager Rob Pelinka created the oldest roster in the NBA. Pretty much every Lakers player and fan is fine with this. LeBron James likes his new team and he can’t wait to hit the basketball court with the new guys. Carmelo Anthony is officially a Laker and LeBron has a special bond with Russell Westbrook.

What does Shaq say about this team? Well, he’d bet on these veterans. The NBA icon said that young teams can’t really dominate once they make the playoffs. This is actually a good point.

“A lot of people always talk about age. But show me a young team that dominate,” O’Neal said during his appearance on ESPN’s First Take. “Listen, young teams always make noise, but when they get to the playoffs, what do you always say? ‘Oh, they don’t have enough experience.’

“The Brooklyn Nets and the Lakers have the most experience when it comes to age. I’m not worried about all that young talk.”

This may be a lesson for each and every critic out there. O’Neal knows that the Lakers can do wonders on the floor despite their age. Moreover, he’d bet on their age and experience. Some of the veterans on the Lakers’ roster have yet to win their first ring. Westbrook is one of the best players and he hasn’t won a ring in his NBA career. Melo needs his ring, too.

Several critics trashed the Lakers for the new-look roster. We bet Melo, LeBron, Trevor Ariza, Dwight Howard, Rajon Rondo, Russ, Wayne Ellington, and DeAndre Jordan can play better than any other squad in the NBA. The Lakers have a Big 3 on the basketball court. We all know what that means. It’s showtime, everybody!
