Bill Belichick Hints At Larger Role For Patriots Linebacker Jamie Collins

Bill Belichick has hinted at a bit of a larger role for the Patriots’ linebacker Jamie Collins. The Patriots are coming off of a big win against the New York Jets a week ago. They won the game in convincing fashion with a 54-13 win over New York. This is the kind of win that the Patriots needed as it works as a huge confidence going into the main part of the season.

The Patriots defense has looked pretty impressive so far this season. And one linebacker Jamie Collins might be getting a bigger role. Head coach Bill Belichick recently talked about what this might mean going forward.

“He works hard,” Belichick said. “He knows what to do. He’s great to be around. He’s helped us defensively on all downs, and he’s helped us in the kicking game. So he’s really done everything we’ve asked him to do, and he’s doing it well.

“I’m glad we have him, and I think he’ll continue to probably build those roles a little bit here going forward. And I’m sure he’ll try to make the most of all the opportunities that he gets.”

It sounds like Collins is getting some big praise from the head coach. Belichick also talked about the Patriots game against the Chargers on Sunday.

He talked about the Chargers QB Justin Herbert.

“It’s because he’s really good. Yeah. He’s really good. I thought he was outstanding. He just really had everything you’re looking for. He’s very athletic. Good arm. A lot of poise. Played well in Oregon. Just a number of big plays. All the passes. All the throws, but extended plays, scrambles, could run the read-zone and all that. He’s as good a quarterback as I’ve seen come out here in quite a while, especially as it fits the pro game.”

“I don’t think you’re going to find too many better than him. This guy is really an impressive player. I thought he was really good when we played them last year, and, luckily, we had a pretty good day, but I’m not counting on that again. I have a ton of respect for him. We think he’s going to be one of the top quarterbacks in the league for a long time to come.”
