Carmelo Anthony Gives Surprising Take on Lakers’ Winless Preseason

NBA veteran Carmelo Anthony had an opportunity to see some action in the Los Angeles Lakers preseason. Well, the Lakers each and every game of the preseason. How does Melo feel about this?

There’s still room for improvement and the Lakers have a chance to build even stronger chemistry. Newly-added players came to LA to win their games and they won’t give up without a good fight. The Lakers entered the preseason as favorites to win.

Carmelo Anthony is motivated by the Lakers preseason

Melo is an optimist. Of course. That’s why he signed with the Lakers, right?

“We can see how we jell together. I thought we had some great moments when all four of us were on the court together,” Anthony said. “We had spurts where we were very in-tune, we were locked in. We don’t expect it to happen overnight. But I thought yesterday was one of those moments where like, ‘OK, we see that, we see that.’ It looks good. It felt good. I believe we will build off of that.

“You find your groove. I think we’ll figure it out much quicker than people are giving us credit for. But that’s on us. That’s something, we take that challenge. That’s something we know and that’s something we talk about. Even though it’s preseason and we lost some games, that’s definitely something that we talk about. How do we speed that process up without cheating? And I think we’re very aware when it comes to that.”

Veterans need to stay healthy to win more games in the regular season. Health is a top factor and it can change the course of the regular season overnight. LeBron and Anthony Davis missed a lot of time due to injuries in the 2020-21 NBA season. Unfortunately, the Lakers have a few injured players on the roster right now. Malik Monk, Trevor Ariza, Kendrick Nunn, and Wayne Ellington will miss some time due to their injuries. Talen Horton-Tucker had to undergo a surgery. It will be a tough challenge for the Lakers, but veterans are optimists. Rajon Rondo feels great about this team, too.
