Colin Cowherd Has a Message For Russell Westbrook, Lakers

Colin Cowherd watched Russell Westbrook and the Los Angeles Lakers lose the season opener to the Golden State Warriors. It was a big blow for LeBron James and his teammates. Many thought that the Lakers would repair some of the damage they made in the preseason. The team didn’t really win and now they added another loss to the chart.

The Fox Sports radio host talked about the team and their struggles on the basketball court.

Cowherd made a few comments, and fans may not agree with him on this one. According to the host, this loss was a big hint for the rest of the season. Lakers fans are not biting into this one. LA is packed with great talent and players need more time to find a mutual language.

“In a spacing league, the Lakers are going to have to win with depth, power, size, length and slowing down the pace. They can do that against a lot of teams. I don’t know if you can win a championship that way, but that’s what the Lakers have to be,” Cowherd said. “This is what the Lakers are: old, expensive and limited athletically on the perimeter.”

Colin Cowherd doesn’t expect more from Russell Westbrook

Enter Westbrook. Cowherd wouldn’t really bet on the newly-added Lakers player. The front office traded three players to get Westbrook but he didn’t make an impact in the preseason and the opening night. Cowherd doesn’t believe that Westbrook would shoot better after all these years, reminding everyone that he has been part of the NBA for a decade. I guess Rob Pelinka has something else to say about this. He brought Pelinka to LA for a reason.

“Let’s be fair about Westbrook,” Cowherd explained. “He was brought in for energy and minutes. Yeah, he couldn’t shoot last night, but folks, it’s been 10 years – he’s not a shooter.”

These words are a bit harsh, but Cowherd has the right to make a theory. We bet Shaquille O’Neal will definitely agree with Cowherd. He even said that Broddie is a role player. Can you believe this?
