DeMar DeRozan Releases Truth Bomb on Talking to LeBron James, Lakers in Free Agency

The Los Angeles Lakers were hunting for superstars this offseason and they had several options on the table. DeMar DeRozan was a good fit for the team and he even talked to LeBron James in free agency. It was a bumpy ride and DeRozan ended up playing with the Chicago Bulls. He is joining a good team but playing alongside LeBron is a different story. King James wanted the veteran on his roster, but he got Russell Westbrook. The Lakers talked to several players and they ended up trading for Russ.

What does DeRozan say about this? He talked to Shams Charania of The Athletic and revealed details of his convo with King James. LA wanted him this offseason and DeRozan has nothing but respect for the storied franchise.

“They was great, honestly. Tried to make it work, had plenty of conversations with Bron. Tried to make it work…just didn’t work. You know how the business goes. One thing can just change the whole dynamic on everything. But it was a hell of an opportunity that we tried to make happen. Me bring from LA would’ve been crazy, but some things just don’t work out. It’s always great just to have the opportunity.”

LA brought a lot of talented guys to the floor and Russ is the biggest catch for the team. The Lakers also signed Carmelo Anthony, Malik Monk, Trevor Ariza, and a few other talented players. Dwight Howard and Rajon Rondo returned to the team for another season. Monk turned out to be an excellent addition too and his preseason action is more than incredible. Head coach Frank Vogel really respects his great effort and stats.

When it comes to DeRozan, he inked a three-year deal with the Bulls. He will get the chance to play with talented Zach LaVine and this makes the whole sign-and-trade even more exciting.

This will be an interesting season for most NBA teams. LA lost two preseason games but LeBron didn’t even play with the team. Russ hasn’t seen any action either.
