Former Patriot Aqib Talib Shares the Secret to Bill Belichick Success

Head coach Bill Belichick is the best coach the NFL has ever seen and he has great success on the field. The New England Patriots made nine trips to the Super Bowl in the past two decades. Not bad, huh? Oh wait… It’s impressive! Belichick knows his job really well and so do his players. Former Patriots cornerback Aqib Talib is well aware of Belichick’s greatness and he knows what makes him so successful.

Talib has made several stops around the NFL and let’s just say he knows a lot about the game.

Aqib Talib respects Bill Belichick and his success

The former cornerback appeared on The Ringer video series Slow News Day to talk about his experience with the Patriots.

“When you play for Bill Belichick,” host Kevin Clark asked. “Give us some insight, give us a story on what separates him from any other coach.”

Talib provided an interesting response and many players would agree with him.

“He keep the main thing — which is football — the main thing more than any other coach. You have some coaches who got rules, ‘wear this stuff to practice,’ all whatever team-issued gear,” the former cornerback said. “They got a bunch of rules, ‘don’t eat in here,’ and, ‘no food in the meeting rooms,’ and it’s a bunch of rules that you wouldn’t even think NFL players have, right. Bill don’t got those rules, man. Bill got ‘be on time,’ ‘don’t play around with the media,’ and ‘know your stuff.’”

Patriots players respect the Patriot Way and follow the rules. They are always on time and take things seriously. Most of them are fine with the no-days-off approach. However, some of the former players would definitely say that Belichick has a complex system. Well, Belichick is not someone who jokes around and has fun all day. He is all-in when it comes to winning and he wants his players to do the same.

New England has a 2-4 record at this point of the season and there’s still room for improvement. Mac Jones is leading the team and he is doing a decent job on the field. the Patriots are playing against the New York Jets on Sunday.
