Frank Vogel Gives Explanation on Russell Westbrook’s Bad LA Debut

Frank Vogel has given an interesting explanation on Russell Westbrook’s bad LA debut against the Golden State Warriors. The Lakers were not able to pull out the victory against the Warriors and did not look very good as a whole. There were a lot of questions going into the season after they failed to impress in the preseason. There did not look very good at all, to be honest.

Head coach Frank Vogel was asked about Russell Westbrook and his struggles in his LA debut. It was clear that Westbrook did not play well at all and many were wondering why.

“[Westbrook played] pretty good. We didn’t get him involved enough, and that’s on me. We continue to look at situations to make him useful and not pull away from what [Anthony Davis] and [LeBron James] are doing. Those guys obviously got going, but I didn’t do a good enough job getting Russ going, and that’s an easy fix. Something that we’re familiar with and keep looking at every day and get a little more comfortable with it.”

“We’re going to have a bigger need for patience than most teams because we have 11 new players. It’s that simple,” Vogel said. “We’re very different and new to each other. So there’s gonna be more of a need for patience with our team than any.”

“So we’re going to make sure that we do whatever we can to try and help him speed that process up to get him going,” Davis said. “But he’ll be fine. He’s just got to be himself, like I said before, and everything will work out for him.”

It is clear that the Lakers will have a few things to work on if they want to make it back to the title. We will have to wait and see if Frank Vogel is able to take care of them quickly. Obviously, the roster is quite different than it was last season so it will take a bit to get used to that. The real question is how long it will take for that to happen.
