New Report Casts Doubt On Potential Brandin Cooks-Patriots Reunion

There is a new report out that casts doubt on a potential Brandin Cooks and New England Patriots reunion. The New England Patriots will be taking on the Los Angeles Chargers today and it should be a very entertaining game. They are coming off a huge victory against the New York Jets in which they lead throughout the entire game. The game ended at a score of 54-13 and it felt good for a Patriots team that was fighting for their life.

Sadly, though, one dream probably won’t be coming true. Brandin Cooks of the Texans was not very happy about his team trading running back Mark Ingram and he took to Twitter to show his disappointment.

“This is (expletive),” Cooks tweeted after the trade was first reported. “Such a joke.”

This led many to wonder if this meant there was any possibility of Cooks having a reunion with the Patriots. Well, according to a report out recently, this is not likely.

It sounds like he was called by the front office and it was clear that he was not happy about the trade. But Cooks is not the kind of player that the Texans are simply going to trade away. He is one of the players that they are trying to build around with more pieces. Trading him wouldn’t make much sense for a Texans squad in need of weapons.

Nick Caserio has always been open to listening to potential trade options. But in this case, he likely wouldn’t give one involving Cooks the time of day.

Cooks is still a very young player at only 28 years old. He has a long career ahead of him and from the sounds of it, it will likely be in Houston, not New England.

This story comes after some moves recently. Bill Belichick talked about these trades.

“The kicking game, certainly a lot of improvement there. Obviously, this week they made two really strong moves to address the kicking game. I think that just speaks to the importance of it and the commitment they have to it this year. [Andre] Roberts and [Dustin] Hopkins are two big additions to that group that they’ve acquired this week to go with the other core players. They’ve done a good job there. Coach [Derius] Swinton’s come in, and they certainly have an element of running surprise-type plays.”
