Report: Patriots Urged to Bench Fan-Favorite Player

There is a report out that the Patriots have been urged to bench a fan-favorite player. The Patriots are 1-2 going into week 4 of the NFL season. They will be taking on Tampa Bay and Tom Brady this week which is a huge game for obvious reasons. It is clear that the Patriots have some kinks to work out on the offensive side of the ball. The defense has been pretty good but they still have some things to work on.

Now there is a report out that the Patriots are being urged to bench a fan favorite – Lawrence Guy. This would be an interesting decision from the Patriots. Alex Kay thinks that they should bench the fan favorite due to his poor performance against the run.

This might have a big impact on the defense but in reality, the offensive side of the ball is where they need to look for changes.

Bill Belichick recently talked about the upcoming match up with the Buccaneers.

“He’s as tough as any quarterback there is or ever has been. Enough said,” Belichick said. “His numbers are incredible. He’s about to pass the all-time passing record, he’s done more than any other player at that position, in whatever measurement you want to take, whether it’s yards, completions, touchdowns, championships, you name it. So put anything out there you want, it can’t get any tougher than him.”

“Totally, 100%. It’s the offense he’s run his whole career. Well, as it evolved here,” Belichick said. “The running game is the running game, the running game’s different. But the passing game’s the passing game. It’s pretty similar. I mean, you could call in almost every play — from the flair control to the protection — similar to the way we do it.”

“Nothing Tom does surprises me, he’s a great player. Works hard, takes care of himself,” Belichick added. “He’s talked about playing till 50, if anybody can do it, he probably can.”

This is interesting and it will be shocking if they actually did go through with it. But do you think that this would be a good idea?
