Anthony Davis Speaks Out on Stealing Malik Monk in Free Agency

The Los Angeles Lakers got a lot of valuable players in the offseason. However, some of them sustained severe injuries and are likely to miss significant time on the basketball floor. These guys came to LA to win. Russell Westbrook and Carmelo Anthony joined the Lakers to win their championship. LeBron James and Anthony Davis are leading the team, and the latter is impressed with the performance Malik Monk put up last night.

Yes, Monk was incredibly efficient in the game against the Miami Heat. He finished the night with 27 points coming off the bench, going 4-for-7 from downtown and 10-for-3 from the field. AD scored 24. So, yes, this number is really impressive.

NBA analysts would agree that the Lakers stole Monk in free agency. He became a key player for the team and it seems like he has embraced his role from the bench.

If you ask AD, he will say that Monk is “instant scorer,” adding that the player could be one of the most important players on the roster. Does this mean that head coach Frank Vogel considers giving him a bigger role? Davis added that the Lakers still don’t know how they got Monk. They also don’t know what they got him for. Interesting, huh? Well, Monk can play and that’s the only thing that matter right now.

The Lakers have a few injured players on the roster and this may give Monk a chance to play a bigger role. Vogel should consider giving him more minutes. When it comes to getting more minutes on the floor, Melo is a candidate to get it. Vogel has yet to make a decision on giving Melo a bigger role. We have at least one good reason to believe that he likes the veteran in the secondary.

Monk and other players should deliver similar performance in the upcoming game. They need to step up and help the team win in LeBron’s absence. LA missed half of the players and they still managed to beat the Miami Heat.
