Healthy Talen Horton-Tucker Finally Gives Lakers Functional Starting Five

A healthy Talen Horton-Tucker has finally given the Lakers a functional starting five. To say the Lakers have struggled to start the season would be a monumental understatement. They have been bad, plain and simple. And if they are not quick to fix the issues that they are currently having, it might be too deep of a hole to climb out of. There have been a few unlucky breaks at the beginning of the season. It is never easy to play without your best player, which is what the Lakers have been doing in the last several games.

LeBron James has an injury that is nagging him too much to play. There was some good news on that front recently when it was reported that it should not keep him out much longer. But head coach Frank Vogel has made some changes that could spell good news for the Lakers going forward.

Vogel made the decision to move a healthy Talen Horton-Tucker to the starting line up instead of Kent Bazemore. Bazemore has not played well in the early season, failing to play at all in the Lakers game against the Spurs.

Anthony Davis has been a shining part of an otherwise bad start. He talked about the change recently, admitting that it is nice to have another ball handler in the starting line up.

“It was good, you know, another ballhandler, not so much pressure on Russ and Rondo,” Davis said after the game. Russell Westbrook needs all the help he can get, “Come in, 17 points, big rebounds, big plays, big shots, defensively. We missed him. He is a big part of our team. He was able to come in and help us get this win.”

Hopefully this is the change that the Lakers need for a successful season going forward. It is clear that they need to change something in the way they are playing.

LeBron should be back in the lineup soon and that will take some of the pressure off of the other players. But will it fix all of the Laker’s problems? Probably not.
