Mac Jones Won’t Reveal This ‘Top-Secret Information’ About Bill Belichick

Rookie quarterback Mac Jones is more than excited to play under the best head coach in the NFL, but he wouldn’t share more information about his relationship with Bill Belichick.

The New England Patriots selected Jones in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. They used the 15th pick to get the Alabama prospect and this was definitely one of the strongest moves Belichick made in the offseason. The Patriots needed a quarterback. They needed someone to lead the franchise. Well, Jones really looks like Belichick’s future franchise quarterback.

Belichick is a man of a few words. He doesn’t speak much about his plans and his gameplan. Jones embraced the same approach.

The rookie appeared on WEEI’s “Merloni & Fauria” and one of the questions were related to his meetings with Belichick. Is he having 1-on-1 meetings with coach B? Tom Brady had these meetings.

“Um, yeah, that’s top-secret information,” Jones said. “We obviously do meet with him. It does help, though, when we meet and he goes through the situations and stuff. That’s pretty much it.

“He does a great job of coaching everybody, and we’re all listening to every word that he says because he’s been a great coach for a long time and he’s seen a lot more football than all of us. So we’re all there to listen and learn, whether it’s a team meeting or whatever.”

Jones doesn’t need to talk about these meetings, but he did talk about it in the past.

“We try to meet with the quarterbacks and stuff and figure out just situational stuff, which helps,” Jones said in late September. “I can’t go into details on that, but it is really beneficial. Just whether it’s the team we’re playing or whoever, just watching football, hearing it from a great coach like him and getting advice from the guys in the room that have played for a lot longer than I have, so just listening and trying to see what they see and pick up on things, and it definitely helps just kind of start the week off right, I guess you could say.”
