Report: Judge Rules on LA County Demanding Psychiatric Exam From Vanessa Bryant

A judge has ruled on the Los Angeles County demanding a psychiatric exam from Vanessa Bryant. A lot has been going on since the death of Kobe Bryant. Now a judge has ruled in that Vanessa Bryant does not need to take a psychiatric exam right now.

“The motion is untimely unless and until the District Judge modifies the ‘Amended Scheduling and Case Management Order’ in these related cases.”

Vanessa Bryant has sued the LA Country and its employees for releasing photos of the helicopter crash that killed her husband and daughter. She is trying to prove that the photos caused her unnecessary emotional distress and wants to be compensated for it.

A lawyer for the city came out with a statement.

“The fact remains that no crash site photos taken by first responders have ever been publicly disseminated, as Ms. Bryant confirmed in her deposition,” said Skip Miller.

“We totally sympathize with the enormous loss she has suffered. But as a legal matter, we don’t believe she could be harmed by something that didn’t occur.”

The lawyer for Bryant, Luis Li, fought back.

“The County’s tactics are simply a cruel attempt to extract a price for victims to obtain accountability,” Li said. “Rather than take accountability for conduct the Sheriff himself has called ‘wildly inappropriate’ and ‘disgusting,’ the County has chosen to pull out all the stops to make the case as painful as possible.”

Bryant also talked about this.

“And I said, ‘If you can’t bring my husband and baby back, please make sure no one takes photographs of them. Please secure the area,’” Bryant recalled.

“I said: ‘No, I need you to get on the phone right now and I need you to make sure that you secure the area,’” she recalled.

“This pain is unimaginable [but] you just have to get up and push forward,” she says. “Lying in bed crying isn’t going to change the fact that my family will never be the same again. But getting out of bed and pushing forward is going to make the day better for my girls and for me. So that’s what I do.”
