Six Thoughts On Mac Jones Performance In Patriots’ Win Over Panthers

The New England Patriots are winning games and their win over the Carolina Panthers is a huge warning for the rest of the NFL. Rookie quarterback Mac Jones had the lead role in the game against the Panthers, and there are six thoughts on his performance.

Patriots relied on their rushing game and the defense did incredible job. In the first half of the game, Jones went 11-for-13 for 121 yards, targeting seven different wide receivers. The first-rounder helped the team gain huge lead over the Panthers.

Mac Jones to provide another great performance following the game vs. Panthers

The passing game disappeared after halftime. Sort of. Belichick’s rookie signal-caller was able to complete just one pass in the final two quarters. Jones didn’t give his best shot in this stretch of the game. Brian Hoyer stepped in as a replacement for Jones at the end of the fourth quarter. Jones went 12-of-18 for 139 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in the game.

Patriots wideouts weren’t explosive. Kendrick Bourne and Jakobi Meyers combined for four catches, and Nelson Agholor added one more. Jones worked with running backs and tight ends throughout the game.

The rookie quarterback turned the ball over twice in the first half of the night. Stephon Gilmore “honored” the Patriots with an interception. I mean, he knows Jones really well.

Penalties changed the gameplan. Patriots players had a false start on the opening possession. There was another one in the next drive. Need more? The Patriots added one more at the end of the first half of the game.

Jones plays strong on the road. He is winning games on the road and we have at least one good reason to believe that he will turn this into a tradition.

The Cleveland Browns are next on the list. This is another big game for the Patriots and they will try to get the best against the team. Jones pay focus on his passing game and wide receivers are expected to elevate their performance. Who will be the star of the show?
