Anthony Davis Sounds Off on LeBron James Absence

Los Angeles Lakers big man Anthony Davis has to step in as a leader as the team is dealing with the situation LeBron James and his absence caused. King James tested positive for COVID-19, but he has already missed a lot of games due to his injuries.

AD talked about this and much more during his interview with Chris Haynes from Yahoo Sports.

“It’s like I’m being tested with my leadership,” he said. “’Bron has been out with injuries and now also with the COVID situation, so it’s a good test for me. It’s a good experience for me to lead these guys and the good thing about it, I have other vets on my side who’ve been in the game for a while to help me through the obstacles. It’s a good test, not just for our team, but for me to lead these guys.”

Lakers players to win more games in LeBron James absence

The big man helped his team beat the Sacramento Kings, finishing the night with 25 points, seven rebounds, and two blocks. It was a beautiful 117-62 win for the team.

Davis is joining forces with his teammates, and hopefully, they will be able to beat their next opponents.

“I’m just taking that next step in leadership to my career,” Davis added. “I’m going to lead the team my way. I’m trying to be one of the guys to express how he feels in our locker room. Rondo, ’Melo, Russ have all been encouraging me to use my voice because I’m normally a really quiet guy when I’m playing and the only time I really talk is when I get tipped over the edge. But they’ve been telling me to ‘Use your voice. Use your voice.’”

Lakers head coach Frank Vogel is without his superstar, but he has a solution to the situation. Vogel talked to his players in the locker room, motivating them to keep playing at the same pace. According to Dwight Howard, Vogel told his players that they should stop talking about their chances to win a ring and try to give the “correct effort.” Vogel knows that his players want to be champions, but he really wants them to show real effort.
