Bill Belichick Reveals ‘Biggest Problem’ For Patriots In Loss To Bills

The New England Patriots suffered a loss in the game to the Buffalo Bills. Head coach Bill Belichick seems to know the answer to all the problems that happened during the game.

If you ask the head coach, he will say it’s the third-down disparity.

Players suffered a 33-21 loss to the Bills and things went terribly bad for the team.

“I think there were a lot of things we did well, we just didn?t do them well enough, often enough,” Belichick said Monday morning on WEEI’s “The Greg Hill Show,” as transcribed by WEEI.com. “Obviously, the biggest problem in the game was third down. Had we done a better job on third down, then things probably would have looked differently. Third and fourth down on defense, a combination of it.

“We were 1-for-10 on third down on offense. And then 6-for-12 (on defense), and they were 3-for-4 on fourth down. That would have been a big factor in the game had we done that better.”

Belichick knows what happened in Patriots loss to Bills

In Monday morning news conference, Belichick addressed the situation. Bills players took advantage of the mistakes New England made.

“Obviously, (we’ve) got to do a better job in both areas,” the Patriots coach said.

Veteran Damien Harris was able to help the team reduce the Bills’ lead late in the final quarter. Let’s just say Patriots players struggled on both ends of the ball. The Bills took advantage of the whole situation. It seems like they had a solution to the Patriots’ defense.

“We had some long-yardage situations,” Belichick said. “They weren?t all third-and-10’s, but there were some, and that was a problem. Just in general, we didn’t do very well on third down. On a couple of them, we converted on fourth down, but just overall, our third-down offensive and defensive execution just wasn’t good enough against a team like Buffalo.”

New England lost two straight games. They lost a match to the Indianapolis Colts, and also lost this one. Let’s hope that things will get better this week. They need to win the remaining games of the regular season.
