Josh McDaniels Gives Honest Answer On If Mac Jones Hit The ‘Rookie Wall’

New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels doesn’t agree with Nick Wright on his comments about rookie quarterback Mac Jones. Wright doesn’t believe that Jones did any better than other quarterbacks in his class. Moreover, he said his numbers are awful. “It was a total disaster,” he said of Jones’ performance.

Well, the Patriots offensive coordinator discussed the current situation in New England and Jones’ recent performance.

Yes, Jones is just a rookie and he went through all the phases rookies go through. However, McDaniels is happy with his effort and praised his regimen. The offensive coordinator said that Jones “understands what he needs to do” and takes a really good care of his body.

“He’s doing fine,” McDaniels said. “No concern on that. Each rookie kind of handles that differently. There’s always a stretch during the course of the middle of the season that’s a little bit new to him, because when you count the preseason games, preseason work, starting in July, usually that happens somewhere towards the end of October, middle of November, somewhere in there. But he’s gotten through that. He understands what he needs to do.

“He does a great job with his regimen, takes care of his body, his preparation. He’s learned how to manage his time and what he needs to allocate it towards, and I think that’s a really important thing for a young player.

Josh McDaniels to see the best from Mac Jones

Jones and his teammates have to finish the regular season with a win. They have two games left on the schedule. Patriots players will finish the season with a game against the Miami Dolphins.

New England lost two straight games. Jones wasn’t really efficient in both games, but he is more than motivated to lead the team to the playoffs. This will be his very first trip to the big game.

Jones has received a lot of criticism for his passes to N’Keal Harry. The third-year wide receiver dropped both passes and let’s just say this didn’t sit well with Patriots fans. There’s still room for improvement.
