Kyle Van Noy Reveals When Mac Jones Won Patriots Over As Rookie QB

The New England Patriots are winning games with their rookie quarterback. Head coach Bill Belichick had to make a decision this summer and he made one. Kyle Van Noy would definitely agree that Mac Jones is a better option than Cam Newton. Jones defeated the 2015 NFL MVP and got the keys to the offense. Simple as that.

The rookie did a better job in training camp. He was a perfect fit for Josh McDaniels’ offensive system. Newton had issues. His absence made things easier for everyone.
Van Noy appeared on “Green Light with Chris Long” and talked about his team and his connection with Jones.

“What’s been impressive I would say with Mac is, and I don’t want this to sound bad or anything, but when Cam was out for that week, and it was the day before we went against the Giants (in joint practices), he was balling against us,” Van Noy said. “It was like, ‘Oh, this dude’s good.’ “

Kyle Van Noy to make the Super Bowl with Mac Jones, Patriots teammates

The first-rounder did most of the work in one of the joint practices with the New York Giants, and this pushed Newton even farther from the team.

Van Noy trusts him despite his age. Jones is just 23, remember?

“When I tell you (Jones) loves football and he’s a Patriot, that is him, bro,” Van Noy told Long. “I love him, too. He’s good. He’s really good. I’ve been impressed. For being 23, to handle the things that he’s handled, to be respectful, to get the teammates — like, he’s cool with all the teammates, vets, younger guys — it’s impressive, bro. That’s tough to do.”

It’s interesting to note that Jones has a chance to win a ring in his first campaign. If this doesn’t happen, he will definitely get the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award.

“His development, the way he wants to work and (his) attention to detail is impressive, and he’s only going to get better,” Van Noy said. “The more he sees it, he’s like, ‘All right, I saw it. I can diagnose it again. I’m good.’ The more he can see reps, the better he’s going to be. It’s going to be impressive to watch, and I’m very, very happy I’m on his team.”
