Lakers Coaching Staff Has Put ‘Everything on the Table,’ Wondering Whether They Have to Change Team’s Offense

The Los Angeles Lakers entered the regular season as the top team in the Western Conference. Veterans all over the NBA wanted to join forces with LeBron James and Anthony Davis so they can win their first ring. Yes, players agreed to a veteran minimum just to join the Lakers. What happened in the first few weeks of the season? Injuries and COVID-19. Players lost significant time. Some of them got suspended. Yes, LeBron. Fans say the front office should fire head coach Frank Vogel. Will the Lakers consider changing the coaching staff?

LA has a 13-12 record at the moment. They beat the Boston Celtics but Charles Barkley believes the team will end up in the play-in tournament again. Sixth seed? LA can do better than this.

Where did it all go wrong? Coaches are probably looking for the best solution.

“The Lakers’ 13-12 start to the season has already caused [Frank] Vogel’s job to be questioned,” wrote Dave McMenamin of ESPN. “They’ve cycled through 12 different starting lineups in those 25 games, the second most in the league, behind the Philadelphia 76ers. The injuries and inconsistency have led the coaching staff to put everything on the table and ponder whether they have to change their high-paced plan on the fly, sources told ESPN.”

Lakers coaching staff to make changes

Getting Russell Westbrook didn’t help LA. He is an excellent player and his performance was spectacular in the last few games. Barkley and Shaquille O’Neal place the blame on Anthony Davis.

Team owner Jeanie Buss won’t replace Vogel because her team isn’t 100% healthy. If players continue losing games even after they all jump back into action, Buss and Rob Pelinka will have to make a move.

Coaches are working day and night to build a good lineup. It’s a long season and we may see a lot of changes in the next couple of months. The Lakers were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs last season. LeBron and his teammates won’t go through the same again. Broddie, Rajon Rondo, Dwight Howard, and the rest of the guys didn’t come to LA to lose.
