NFL Insider Warns Josh McDaniels Against Seeking Job As Jaguars Coach

New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels has had an opportunity to land a job as a NFL head coach. However, Ian Rapoport believes McDaniels shouldn’t accept pretty much every offer on the market.

In Friday’s appearance on WEEI’s “Gresh & Keefe,” Rapoport said he shouldn’t join the Jacksonville Jaguars as their head coach. Some would say that McDaniels is the right fit for the Jaguars. Urban Meyer is no longer here and the Jaguars need someone to lead the charge. Is McDaniels the right player to coach the Jaguars?

Josh McDaniels will have to wait for his job as a coach

If you ask Rapoport, he will say McDaniels should stay away from this position. There are so many better opportunities out there. We have a few good reasons to believe the Patriots will do their best to keep McDaniels as their offensive coordinator. He is too valuable for the Patriots organization.

“I think a better question is, is this a job Josh McDaniels would want? As he goes into this process now, that should be the question every time,” Rapoport said. “… It’s just you do have (rookie quarterback) Trevor Lawrence, who I think is going to be good, but honestly, watching him this year you really don’t know. Then you have an owner who has not covered himself in glory over his 10 years, or whatever it is in the NFL. (McDaniels) needs to make sure to look for a good, stable properly operating franchise, and I don’t know if this is one that he would want.”

McDaniels has accomplished a lot for the Patriots. He talked to many NFL teams regarding their empty spot. Head coach Bill Belichick tried really hard to keep McDaniels in his crew. The Patriots offensive coordinator has great talent and he will definitely be a head coach one day. For now, he will have to stay in New England. McDaniels is really happy with his role in New England. The Patriots look good at the moment and they have a chance to make the playoffs this season.
