Patriots Place Kendrick Bourne, Three Others On Reserve/COVID-19 List

Did things go down the hill for the New England Patriots? The NFL is dealing with a surge in COVID cases and the Patriots were pretty safe until today. According to latest reports, the Patriots placed four players on the reserve list. Kendrick Bourne is one of them and losing him to COVID protocols is a big blow for the Patriots.

Linebackers Harvey Langi, Ronnie Perkins, and Cameron McGrone will have to isolate from the team. They won’t be allowed to enter facilities or practice with the team.

Patriots reserve list is longer now

Bourne’s absence will impact the Patriots’ roster. He has been great with the Patriots this season. Bourne has established an excellent connection with rookie quarterback Mac Jones. In the game against the Indianapolis Colts, Bourne was able to catch three passes for 44 yards. He has 45 receptions in 14 games. There’s more. Bourne has tied career highs with 667 yards and five touchdowns receiving and totals 100 yards rushing.

Langi, Perkins, and McGrone don’t have a spot on Bill Belichick’s current active roster.

Langi has a 21-day window to return from IR and this ends on Thursday. Perkins ended up on injured reserve last week. When it comes to McGrone, he was on the non-football injury list for the rest of the regular season.

About 51 NFL players ended up on COVID reserve in the last couple of days. Patriots running back J.J. Taylor is still on the list. Tight end Dalton Keene and offensive lineman Yasir Durant are on the list too.

In Monday’s press conference, Belichick talked about the current situation in his team. They don’t know what to expect and plan to follow league rules and protocols. Maybe the NFL will introduce more restrictions and it’s all part of the process.

The Patriots are coming off of a bad loss tot he Indianapolis Colts. They have a 9-5 record at this point of the season. The Buffalo Bills will try to get a revenge on Sunday. Bourne’s teammates will have to handle his absence without any mistakes.
