Report: Lakers Linked to Trade for Pricey Pistons Star

The Los Angeles Lakers have a 15-13 record at this point of the regular season. It’s not the worst record but the front office has already considered some changes. Will they get rid of Frank Vogel? Will they give Vogel a new player to work with? According to latest reports, the Lakers may trade for a Detroit Pistons star.

Does Jerami Grant make sense for the Lakers?

Detroit has a 4-22 record at this point of the season which is the worst record in the NBA. The team doesn’t have too many stars to work with at the moment. They have Cade Cunningham and Grant. That’s all. Grant is probably the only trade asset for the Pistons at the moment.

LA Lakers to trade for a Pistons star

Shams Charania from The Athletic reported that several teams have tried to trade for Grant.

“Jerami Grant is one of the most sought-after players in a potential trade, with the Lakers and Trail Blazers among the teams pursuing the Pistons’ versatile forward, sources said. Grant will miss extended time with torn ligaments in his right thumb, but that is not expected to impact his trade market. Dozens of teams call the Detroit front office about Grant each week, and sources said the team is open to a possible deal.”

Grant is averaging 20.1 which makes him a good fit for the Lakers. The talented player works with power forward and the Lakers may use him in the same lineup with Anthony Davis. Imagine Grant, AD, LeBron James, and Russell Westbrook. That would be awesome!

LA will have to trade one of the most valuable assets on the roster. Talen Horton-Tucker will have to go. Will the team agree to get rid of him? They have already had a chance to trade him but it didn’t work. THT has some issues with his consistency but he is too valuable to go away right now.

Kent Bazemore, Kendrick Nunn… The list of assets is endless. How will the situation end for these players? It’s a long season after all.
