Report: Patriots Officially Rule Linebacker Out For Monday Night Bills Game

The New England Patriots will meet the Buffalo Bills and the Bills Mafia. We all know what that means. Head coach Bill Belichick will have to get the best of his players to win this game. Patriots players will have to join forces to beat their division rivals. Well, the Patriots decided to rule an outside linebacker out for the game.

Rookie Ronnie Perkins have yet to make his debut in the NFL. The Patriots have downgraded the rookie outside linebacker to out for the matchup.

Perkins didn’t join the Patriots for practice due to an illness. The team listed him as questionable for the game. He is out now.

The 22-year-old was selected in the third round of the NFL draft as No.96 overall pick. In his preseason, Perkins had six solo tackles and six quarterback hurries in 96 snaps as reported by Pro Football Focus. He won’t play against the Bills though.

Patriots rule the linebacker out, get another veteran back

It’s interesting to note that Perkins was a healthy scratch for all of the Patriots regular season games.

Running back J.J. Taylor and safety Kyle Dugger are on the COVID-19 reserve list. Seven Patriots players were listed as questionable for Monday’s game, including running back Brandon Bolden, wide receiver Gunner Olszewski, offensive linemen Trent Brown and David Andrews, defensive lineman Christian Barmore, linebacker Ja’Whaun Bentley and kicker Nick Folk.

Perkins and Dugger may not play, but Jamie Collins is definitely joining his teammates for the trip. The veteran linebacker suffered an ankle injury during the game against the Carolina Panthers. The Patriots added him on injured reserve but he is finally eligible to return.

Dugger is leading his team and now he won’t play which is a big blow for the Patriots. Collins’ performance may be of great help in his absence. Dugger and Collins don’t play the same position, but the latter can definitely fill up for his teammate.

The game against the Bills is probably the most anticipated game in the regular season. New England took the throne in the AFC East and Bills players are motivated to take them down.
