Russell Westbrook Rips Rumor About Move to Rival Squad

The Los Angeles Lakers added another loss to their chart. Doubters criticized head coach Frank Vogel and his team for losing the game to their city rivals. Well, one reports suggests that veteran Russell Westbrook considered joining a rival squad. Can you make any guesses?

ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne reported that the Clippers tried to recruit Westbrook in 2019. Instead of getting Westbrook, the Clippers ended up signing Paul George.

“According to multiple sources, Leonard then called Westbrook’s teammate in Oklahoma City, Paul George, and told him he’d rather team up with him on a homecoming.”

Russell Westbrook didn’t join the rival squad

As you may be guessing, the media was really interested in this report and Westbrook got a lot of questions about it.  Let’s just say he wasn’t too excited about Shelburne’s reports. He doesn’t like the fact that the media keeps bringing up these anonymous sources. Oh, he’s been there before.

“I’m talking about for me, I don’t know what nobody else do. I have no relations with no media outlet where they come to me and go ‘here, Russ, I got a source for you.’ That’s not what I do, and now you guys know that,” Westbrook said. “I never sit back and call anybody. Sit back and wait, and figure out if somebody wants to play with me, and then cool, that conversation can happen. But those private conversations that are had, I keep that to myself, so I have no answer as it pertains to that.”

Westbrook wasn’t the one talking to Shelburne about the Clippers. He made sure everyone understands the words coming out of his mouth.

“One time, this person reports something, like who reported it? Ramona reported a story about Kawhi (and I). I never talked to Ramona. Right?” Westbrook added. “Like, I can talk to Kawhi, and I can talk to PG, I can talk to anybody, and they can say ‘well I never talked to her neither.”

Westbrook and his teammates will have a chance to get back on the right track in their upcoming game. They have a few obstacles to overcome. LA can definitely do that!
