Biggest Needs Lakers Must Address at 2022 NBA Trade Deadline

The Los Angeles Lakers have so much going on right now. The team entered the 2021-22 NBA season as favorites to win the title. Did it work? Did all the offseason moves work for the team? LA has a 24-27 record at this point of the regular season. The Lakers front office has to make a move ahead of the 2022 NBA trade deadline.

Anthony Davis missed a lot of games due to his injury. LeBron James missed time in the first half of the season. Well, he is missing time again. LeBron’s knee injury is the last thing LA needs at the moment.

Great options for the Lakers ahead of the 2022 NBA trade deadline

Large wing

The Lakers may need a large wing, which should be a priority in the trade deadline. Trevor Ariza and Kent Bazemore weren’t of great help for the team. Rob Pelinka should aim for someone like Ariza, and he can go for Jerami Grant, Marcus Smart, Harrison Barness, Kenrich Williams, Robert Covington, and Justin Holiday seem like good options.

Small-ball center

Another need for the team. Frank Vogel has embraced an interesting approach, and someone like Myles Turner and Christian Wood could be of great help for the team. Larry Nancy Jr. and Mike Muscala are good options for the team as well.

Playmaker

Vogel could use more depth at shooting or point guard. Kendrick Nunn works well in this aspect, but he is injured. Buddy Hield, Gary Trent Jr., Eric Gordon, Terrence Ross, and Caris LeVert would look good on this spot. Throw Bogdan Bogdanovic, Jeremy Lamb, Norman Powell, and Lou Williams, and you have a good match.

Roster spot

Pelinka will make some calculations to find the best options for his team. Trades, releases, cuts… It all makes sense when it comes to winning.

Pelinka needs a winning team. His players are not winning games at the moment. That should be the main priority for the team. Keeping healthy players on the roster is a must. Injury-prone players make things harder for everyone. Maybe Pelinka will decide to move on from some of his current stars. Some would say that Anthony Davis should leave the team. Is that even possible? I don’t think so.
