Former Patriots Coach Interviewed For Giants Head Coaching Job

New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has been working with a great group of assistants. Most of them have tried to become head coaches in the NFL. According to latest reports, former Patriots wide receiver and tight ends coach Brian Daboll interviewed for the New York Giants coach vacancy.

Giants general manager Joe Schoen is packing up his office in Buffalo. Will he even try to find enough room for Daboll?

The Bills’ offensive coordinator is favorite to get the job in New York. The information was confirmed by several sources familiar with Schoen. He was Bills’ assistant general manager from 2017 until accepting the Giants’ offer on Friday. Schoen has worked with Daboll for four years. He was also working with Buffalo defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier for five years.

Former Patriots coach will face great challenge in the coach competition

Schoen started the process right away. He interviewed Daboll Friday night. Frazier was scheduled for Saturday because it is the final day that first interviews may be conducted with candidates whose teams have made the big game.

If the Bills lose the game to the Kansas City Chiefs, Daboll and Frazier can return to the interview circuit. If the Bills win the game, teams won’t be able to do further interviews during the week of the AFC Championship. They will be able to conduct secondi interviews in the first week of the preparations for the Super Bowl.

Daboll will face a serious challenge. Former Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores is also a good candidate for the position. Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn will probably do his interview too.

Daboll has enough experience in the NFL. He was also the offensive coordinator for the Cleveland Browns, Kansas Chiefs, University of Alabama, and Miami Dolphins. He joined the Bills and now he has a chance to be a head coach.

Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels has been getting a lot of interviews in the past few years, but this season is different. He hasn’t interviewed with NFL teams, and this may be related to his situation with the Indianapolis Colts. McDaniels almost accepted the job, but decided to stay with the team.
