Lakers Make Final Call on Firing Frank Vogel After Loss

The Los Angeles Lakers don’t believe that firing Frank Vogel will solve their problems. What does that mean? The head coach is safe for now.

The Lakers lost the game to the Indiana Pacers and everyone thought that he would lose his job. Vogel talked about the terrible loss to Indiana and added fuel to the fire.

“This is definitely a disappointing loss,” Vogel told the media. “Indy is a team that’s sub-.500, that on our home court, we feel like we should win. And you got to win the games you feel like you should win. So, a disappointing loss.”

The Lakers may have lost the game, but Vogel is keeping his job as reported by Chris Haynes from Yahoo Sports.

“The Los Angeles Lakers will not be making a personnel move at this juncture and Frank Vogel will travel with the team tomorrow to coach in Orlando on Friday,” he tweeted.

The Lakers started off their road trip and fans have started asking questions. Will Vogel leave the team after the next loss? Will the franchise trade Russell Westbrook?

His deal is huge and NBA teams wouldn’t agree to sign a struggling player.

Everyone is asking questions about Vogel’s job, but he is not really worried.

“I don’t feel like I’m under siege,” Vogel told the media. “It’s not hard to do my job; I’m very focused on the task at hand. I’ve always been that way.”

Lakers front office won’t be firing Frank Vogel… for now

Vogel and his assistants have high expectations from players. They had high expectations from the regular season. Things didn’t go the way everyone planned.

“It’s really not up to me whether it’s fair or not,” Vogel said. “It comes with the territory, comes with being the Lakers’ coach. We have high expectations. This fan base really cares. It’s a big market, and I wouldn’t want it any other way, to be honest with you. I want people to care, I want people to want the best and to command excellence out of our group. That’s what we command of ourselves; that’s just the way it is.”

The Lakers should try really hard to win more games. Kendrick Perkins even blasted LeBron James and Anthony Davis for not standing up for their head coach. Yes, Vogel helped the Lakers win a title inside the NBA bubble in Orlando two seasons ago. Why would the Lakers fire him now?
