Lakers Reportedly Have No ‘Current Plans’ to Replace Frank Vogel

The Los Angeles Lakers lost too many games in the regular season and most fans place the blame on the head coach. What are the Lakers plans for Frank Vogel? The Lakers have a terrible record at this point of the season. Team owner Jeanie Buss didn’t even think of replacing the head coach because her team wasn’t 100% healthy. Well, LA is relatively healthy now and players are still losing games.

Several reporters suggested that the front office will replace Vogel before it’s too late. This suggestion came on top of many rumors related to Vogel’s future with the team. The front office gave him a new deal, but they waited for too long before making an actual move.

Dan Woike and Broderick Turner reported that Vogel’s future with the team actually depends on the team’s record.

“All this uncertainty has NBA insiders focused on Vogel’s job status,” Woike and Turner wrote. “The win Monday, they said, is more of a stay than clemency. While there are no current plans to make a change, future plans are dependent on results.”

Sam Amick and Bill Oram reported that Vogel “was being evaluated on game-to-game basis.” In other words, they reported that the Lakers considered firing him if players keep losing games. Oram and Amick also wrote that Vogel “was under fire more than ever before.” He was literally coaching for his job. There’s more. Vogel got almost fired after the loss to the Denver Nuggets. Had the Lakers lost another game, many thought it would put an end to Vogel’s time with the team.

The Lakers are still without Anthony Davis. The big man has yet to return to the floor, but he is allowed to have contact workout. The Lakers have provided an update on the timetable for his return.

“According to people with knowledge of the situation, there’s optimism Davis could return during the team’s upcoming six-game road trip,” Woike reported on Tuesday.
