LeBron James Drops Truth Bomb on Anthony Davis Return

LeBron James can’t wait for his teammate Anthony Davis to return from his injury. The big man had an MRI and it came back negative. He was allowed to join his teammates for contact practice. However, Lakers head coach Frank Vogel didn’t think that AD would jump into game action right away. LeBron and Davis have been leading the team for a few seasons. Vogel took a different approach with LeBron. Will Davis’ return affect his role even further?

King James carries his team on the back. He will continue carrying the load even when Davis joins the team.

“I don’t need to score 30 a night, but I’m in one of the best zones offensively I’ve been in, in my career,” LeBron said. “And I don’t plan on stopping. That’s just how I feel. I feel fantastic. Shooting the ball extremely well. Didn’t shoot the 3-ball well tonight, but all eight of them felt great. Shooting efficient from the free throw line, shooting efficient from the field. Very efficient at the rim.”

LeBron to continue his pace even when Anthony Davis makes a return

LeBron and his teammates have lost seven out of 10 games in Davis’ absence. Things don’t really work for the team, but hey, LeBron is an optimist.

“I don’t go into the game saying you got to score 30 or you guys don’t have a chance to win the game,” he said. “I just play the game. The scoring has been happening organically.”

Davis has a key role with the team. Lakers fans hope to see him on the floor before it’s too late. The Lakers entered the new season as favorites to win the title. Things went the hill right away and LA may be forced to take part in the play-in tournament. Everyone is waiting for Davis to return to see if the team improves its record.

Vogel and LeBron wouldn’t rush him back too fast. They want Davis to be 100% healthy when he returns.

“We knew this was the first game where it would be possible but still unlikely so we just checked in on how he felt yesterday knowing that he’d still be probably not ready yet but getting closer,” Vogel said. “We have to make sure we do it safely and at the right pace and at the right time. In terms of what pushed it, we just knew he was getting close and we wanted have transparency with reporting that it wasn’t 100 percent that he wouldn’t play so we upgraded him to questionable. We knew it was probably unlikely. There was no setbacks or anything like that, just a matter of him getting closer.”
