Patriots Sign Promising Rookie & 5 Others to Futures Contracts

The New England Patriots decided to sign a rookie to future deal for a reason. Henry McKenna from USA Today was among the first to confirm the news. Head coach Bill Belichick is not wasting his time. New England missed the chance to win the Super Bowl this season and the legendary head coach is already working on his 2022 roster. A few rookies earned their spots in his team. Belichick wanted to keep these players around. NFL players who sign future contracts can’t be signed by another team.

The Patriots elevated Kristian Wilkerson to fill up some of the holes on their gameplan. The wide receiver used the best of this opportunity and he was a lot better than third-round pick N’Keal Harry. Belichick needs to boost his receiving group, but Wilkerson won’t really step in as the top receiver for the team. The receiver played his best football in Week 17. Harry was a healthy scratch for the team and Wilkerson caught two touchdown passes.

Patriots sign their rookie to protect him from NFL teams, add a few more

Tre Nixon is an exciting option for the Patriots. He has great skills and Belichick should keep him around for a while. Of course, he has to survive the roster cuts.

Quinn Nordin has a chance to earn a better contract with the Patriots. Nick Folk is the No.1 kicker for the team, but Belichick has a few good reasons to give Nordin another chance. Keep in mind that Justin Rohrwasser didn’t survive the roster cuts despite the fact that the Patriots wanted him in 2020. Nordin has strong leg and an excellent case to make the 53-man roster.

This is one of the many moves for the Patriots. Their offseason started earlier than usual, and Belichick will use every bit of it to get everyone ready for the next challenge. This is the best response to those who say Belichick plans to retire after the regular season. No, he is not going anywhere.

The Patriots will probably get a few more rookies in the 2022 NFL Draft.
