Report: Josh McDaniels Could Become Top Candidate For This Job

New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels is really happy with his job and the team tries really hard to keep him around. Well, McDaniels has been linked with other NFL teams for a reason. He is really exceptional, and some NFL teams really need a new head coach. Will McDaniels ever consider changing his job position?

The Houston Texans may need a new head coach as they may get rid of David Culley. Is McDaniels their best target?

“According to a league source, if Houston fires Culley then New England Patriots’ offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels could emerge as a top potential candidate to be the team’s next head coach,” Texans reporter Aaron Wilson wrote Sunday. “McDaniels, if he decides to leave New England, could be a strong head coaching candidate for multiple potential vacancies based on his track record and his success developing Patriots rookie quarterback Mac Jones.”

This is a rather surprising report. McDaniels has been linked to many teams in the NFL. He almost left the Patriots to become a head coach. McDaniels changed his mind and decided to stay with the Patriots.

Josh McDaniels won’t accept an eventual job offer

Ian Rapoport from NFL Media believes that the Patriots offensive coordinator wouldn’t consider leaving the Patriots for a team that has a general manager. Here’s the catch. McDaniels has great connection with Houston GM Nick Caserio. Let’s not forget that Caserio was part of the Patriots organization for two decades.

There’s another catch. The Texans have to solve a major problem. They lack a strong quarterback option and McDaniels only works with the best. He worked with the greatest basketball player of all time. McDaniels helped Tom Brady sharpen his skills to perfection. Now he is working a really great rookie. Mac Jones will be the Patriots quarterback of the future. He is having an excellent first season with the Patriots. Head coach Bill Belichick selected him in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He did that for a reason. Working with a future star is a much better option than joining a team with poor quarterback options.
