Chris Simms Floats Hypothetical Scenario on Tom Brady Return to Patriots

Tom Brady announced his retirement from the NFL, but NFL fans still dream of his return to the New England Patriots. Brady left the Patriots after 20 years and signed a two-year deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It was a long career, and Brady brought it to an end. He wants to use his free time to hang out with his wife and kids. This leads us all the way to those who believe that Brady will finish his career with the Patriots.

Tom Brady to return to the Patriots?

Mike Florio and Chris Simms talked about this on NBC Sports’ ProFootballTalk. They did mention the fact that Brady could re-sign with the Patriots.

“Here’s the way I could see it happening. I don’t think he’s just going to go back to anybody,” Simms said. “But I look at this year’s Drew Brees scenario, right? Where you and I both know — Drew told us flat-out — they lost Taysom Hill, (Trevor) Siemian was hurt, they went, ‘Oh no, we need a quarterback,’ and … they put out the bat signal. ‘Uh oh, we might need Drew. We need you to get out here to help us end the season and get into the playoffs.’

“If New England called last year — let’s say they’re sitting there 12-3 and Mac Jones gets hurt with two or three games left in the year. Those are the ones, or even Tampa, whoever their starting quarterback is next year — two places he’s got some comfort with, knows the system. Like, that’s where I can maybe see it happening.”

We have a few good reasons to believe that Brady won’t change his mind. He played the game for a really long time. Head coach Bill Belichick said TB12 is the ultimate competitor, and Brady has the same feelings for his former head coach. That’s not all. Belichick has a talented quarterback at center. Mac Jones did a wonderful job with the team, leading the Patriots to a seven-game winning streak.

This is an interesting scenario, and fans got really excited about it.
