Rare Kobe Bryant card sold for a lot of money, and yes, we are talking about $2 million! The Black Mamba makes an impact every time someone mentions his name. According to PWCC Marketplace, the card was sold privately for $2 million. We all know what that means. It’s the most expensive sale ever for a Kobe card. This particular piece is a 1997-98 Metal Universe Precious Metal Gems Emerald. It’s not a rookie card. NBA stars sell their rookie cards for a lot of money. This one is not even a rookie card.

This card is from the 1997-98 NBA campaign. Kobe averaged 15.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game while shooting 42.8 percent from the field and 34.1 percent from beyond the arc. He also joined the All-Star team that season.

Oh, there’s more. The card doesn’t have any autographs or game-used memorabilia swatch. Jeff Owens from Sports Collectors Digest says that this piece is one of 10 to exist. So, yes, it sure is a big deal.

Rare Kobe Bryant card sells for good cash

The good news is that this card is in great condition. You don’t get to see this every day. PWCC says it’s in a remarkable condition, adding that it’s a rare phenomenon for cards of this type.

Beckett Grading Services gave it an 8.5 grade. Impressive, huh?

According to Jesse Craig, director of business development at PWCC, this card is the best Kobe piece in existence. Fans don’t get to put their hands on these cards because they are so delicate. One can’t find a card in such a great condition. A double winner, huh?

Dan Hajducky from ESPN says that this card is one of the very few NBA cards to hit this price. LeBron James’ RPAs was sold for this amount. The same goes to a Luka Doncic Logoman auto. We couldn’t do this without a Michael Jordan All Star Game-used jersey auto card.

LeBron’s 2003-04 Upper Deck Exquisite Collection RPA piece has the record. It sold for $5.2 million in April 2021. He is the king of basketball, and he definitely holds the record in every aspect.
