Report: Patriots Might Not Hire Official Josh McDaniels Replacement For 2022

The New England Patriots lost their offensive coordinator right after the end of the regular season. Josh McDaniels interviewed with the Las Vegas Raiders for their head coaching gig and yes, he was sure about the job. The interview went well, and McDaniels is the new Raiders head coach. The Patriots have to find a replacement for him. Ian Rapoport from NFL Media reported that the Patriots may not find McDaniels replacement in 2022.

Joe Judge has changed the gameplan.

“The addition of Joe Judge gives them added leadership on offense and allowed them to move some responsibilities around,” Rapoport wrote on Twitter.

Patriots won’t go after Josh McDaniels replacement in 2022 for a reason

Judge will probably step in as a replacement for McDaniels. He will work with Mac Jones in the offseason, helping him develop his skillset even further. Judge was part of the offensive gameplan during his time in New York. In other words, he knows a few things about the offense.

Several reports suggest that Judge may be the future offensive coordinator for the Patriots. Bill Belichick has nothing but words of praise for him. In 2019, Belichick praised Judge’s great effort in the kicking game. He is well aware of the fact that Judge can help organize things on the offense. “He’s an excellent coach,” Belichick said.

“He’s done a great job with the kicking game, and he’s expanded the role a little bit,” Belichick said. “That’s kind of had a little bit of a ripple effect in the way we’ve organized the kicking game, but that’s all worked out pretty efficiently. And Joe has done a great job of organizing that as well as taking on some other things with the offense, in particular receivers, so he’s done a great job. He’s an excellent coach.”

Last summer, Belichick shared the same sentiment. Judge and his Giants players came to Gillette Stadium for their joint practice.

“Joe’s a good football coach,” Belichick said. “Period. All the things that a good coach needs to do, Joe does.”

The Patriots have a valuable member of the coaching staff which makes things easier for everyone.
