Scott Zolak Confidently Predicts Details For 2022 Patriots Coaching Staff

The New England Patriots will enter the 2022 NFL season with a different coaching staff. Scott Zolak made a few comments about Bill Belichick’s assistants and let’s just say his predictions were actually “assumptions.” There’s one tiny detail.

“Billy O’Brien will not be the offensive coordinator,” the former Patriot and current radio broadcaster said on Wednesday’s “Zolak & Bertrand” episode on 98.5 The Sports Hub. He is pretty sure about this.

The Patriots lost Josh McDaniels to the Las Vegas Raiders right after the end of the regular season. He left the team after interviewing with the Raiders, and yes, he was pretty convinced he’d get the job. That’s why he had this interview after all. Belichick had to find his replacement, and O’Brien was one of the most reasonable options. However, Zolak’s prediction was a bit too loud, and he may be right about this. Who will replace McDaniels in New England?

Patriots have strong coaching staff at the moment

Zolak is convinced that Adam Gase won’t replace McDaniels either. I guess, Belichick has a plan for his next OC. Both Gase and O’Brien make perfect point but these may not get the job.

According to Zolak, Nick Caley will be quarterbacks/passing game coordinator. Joe Judge is tight ends/co-run game coordinator and Matt Patricia is offensive line/co-run game coordinator. When it comes to wide receivers coach, Troy Brown gets the job.

Is Zolak right about this? He noted that Patricia and Caley will split play-calling duties in 2022.

Zolak knows a few things about the game, and he made a few good points. However, NFL analysts won’t really bite into this one. New England has entered a long offseason, and Belichick gets to decide what works best for his coaching staff. The only thing we can do right now is sit and wait. Belichick will make a move or two to adjust the coaching staff. Losing McDaniels was a big blow for the team. He did a wonderful job in the last few seasons and he was brilliant with rookie quarterback Mac Jones in 2021.
